Celebrating 8 years of Marriage....

This weekend gone by we celebrated our upcoming anniversary (21/5) by having a romantic getaway to Cadair Cottage in the Hunter Valley. My parents had the kidlets so that Woodi and I could have a weekend away.

If I were a cottage, I would be Cadair! From the picturesque bush scenery, wildlife, the picket fence and welcoming verandah to the classic cottage feel with a modern palate of purple hues, slate greys and fresh white, the cozy fire, comfy couches and heated spa.....I loved it all, especially sharing it with Woodi.

Wedding rings and other things

To me my wedding rings are a symbol and display of my commitment to my husband, our marriage and the love we share. My husband shares the same belief and doesn't understand why some people choose not to wear them simply because they don't want to.

Up until the last two years, you can count on one hand the number of times my rings left my finger and these were due to re-sizing and surgery. In the past 2 years I have developed extremely bad contact dermatitis under my rings. I would wear them until it felt like my finger was about to explode and then air it out for a day or two before replacing them and starting the vicious cycle all over again. I hate not wearing my ring, I feel bare and almost fake without it.

Woodi works operating heavy machinery and due to safety requirements he must take them off before entering his workplace. At first Woodi would diligently put his rings (I say rings as Woodi thought it was only fair that he got a wedding and engagement band also :) on as soon as his week of working was through, but as time got on he would find himself forgetting more and more. He would be so happy when he remembered and got a full weekends wear out of them. Woodi had mentioned to me quite a bit that he would like to get his wedding band tattooed on so he would never have to take it off or forget to put it back on.

For our 7th wedding Anniversary I booked him in to get his ring finger done and thought what better gift to him than to get my commitment to him tattooed also.


Instead of wedding bands we decided to get each others initial, and I love them.

In you I found my other half.....

Seven years ago to the day, we had a beautiful wedding. And to this day it still remains the most magical day of my life. If someone had of told me then, that I would love you more in seven years than I did in the moment we became 'Mr & Mrs'..... I would have told them it was impossible! I believed that my heart couldn't possibly love someone more than I loved you in that moment.

I was so very wrong, and have never been happier to be wrong. My Love for you has blossomed and bloomed one thousand times over since we married. My heart forever growing to hold all the new ways in which I love you. And I now know, that as impossible as it seems, my love and heart will continue to swell in all our years together.

Seven years ago was the start of a new life together and the beginning of a family, the gifts that our marriage has given me are endless and I will forever be thankful for you and all you give me in this life. Thank you for the past seven years of loving marriage, for all the magic you have poured into my soul, for standing by me in my times of struggle and celebrating my victories.

I look forward to many more years, beautiful moments and memories together, I know that with you by my side I can make it through the darkest of storms and there will always be light and magic in my life. We are one, for in you I found my other half.
